Sharing is Caring for Kelson Group

Kamloops, B.C.: Kelson Group's mission is to provide quality apartments to help their residents live better. Kelson Group also believes that part of being a good community steward is to look out into the community for opportunities to help others live better too! A few days ago, the team from Kelson Group Kamloops took part in the United Way BC's (formerly the United Way Thompson Nicola Cariboo) Day of Caring, putting their talents and resources to work for good.

"Our maintenance and renovation teams are always out fixing and improving our apartment buildings for our residents, and they are very good at what they do," said Kelly Fawcett, Vice President of Kelson Group. "For the team to be joined by our head office administration and building management team to work on a project together is always a good time. There are always lots of laughs and smiles as we all pull together to make an impact in our community."

This year, Kelson Group helped the Y Women's Emergency Shelter in tangible ways, making improvements to their facility's interior and exterior.

"Our crew did a number of maintenance jobs including pressure washing the exterior, brightening up some interior rooms with new paint for residents and staff, and exterior yard clean up to allow a new dog friendly area," said Fawcett.

Fawcett acknowledges that it is a great team building exercise to get people out and working together, but it is also something that fulfills people because they've been able to give back to a local organization that does great work.

"We highly recommend working with the United Way and doing a Day of Caring in your community," said Fawcett. "Trust me, even though you are doing work to benefit an organization, you and your team will be the ones who benefit equally."
