Another Record Setting Food Drive

The 5th annual Kelson Group Resident's Food Drive took place on June 17 at apartment buildings across the company's portfolio in 10 cities located throughout B.C. and Alberta, and the results were simply outstanding once again.

"A big THANK YOU to our residents who donated non-perishable food items, again breaking previous records set in years past," said Kelly Fawcett, Vice President of Maintenance and Construction, Kelson Group. "This initiative to collaboratively come together to make a difference in our communities came from our staff and we've been so pleased to have our residents supporting the promotion for five consecutive years."

Last year, Kelson Group apartment buildings in 10 cities participated in the Annual Resident's Food Drive and 10 local Food Banks received donations to help their communities. This year, residents and staff stepped up to donate 6,150 pounds of non-perishable food items, surpassing last years wonderful total of 6,000 pounds. An anonymous donation of $1,000 was also made from a Kelson Group resident.

"Seeing an event like this, where Kelson Group residents and staff work side by side to do something so meaningful for the communities we live in makes us all proud of what we've been able to accomplish together," said Fawcett. "As is our tradition and honour, we will be donating $1 for every pound of food donated and we will also match the $1,000 cash donation."

In total for 2021, 6,150 pounds of food and $8,150 will be distributed to food banks throughout B.C. and Alberta.

"We appreciate the support of our residents as we all help play a role to tackle hunger in our communities," said Fawcett. "It is such a great feeling to do this together because we know we're helping others live better."
